Perceptions of PR Professionals
Hello everyone. This week I wanted to talk abouth a couple of things that have been bothering me for quite sometime. When I first came to Salem State, I majored in Bussiness, because coming from a family of business professionals, that was the thing for me to do. But now, I have found my calling, communications, specifically Public Relations. Most of my friends believe that we are only here to promote dishonesty, and our only job is to make a company look good. Do you agree? Have you ever been confronted by this, and how did you guys handle it? I know what the text book says about MBR's, but I would like to hear from you guys, what public relations mean to you?
See you soon
Thanks

I believe that being a PR practitioner means representing your company or organization in the best/honest way possible. It is a way to create open communication between the outside world and the company. I think that people have a bad idea of what PR professionals do because some have ruined it giving themselves a bad name by lying and going to great lengths to make the company look good. I think it all depends on the individual.
